If you are new to Networking, then having a wingman can certainly help. Caution, they are there to support you gain visibility in the community, since you already know them don’t waste the valuable opportunity to talk to new people and see if you can help them.
Ask for introductions to people you would like to develop a relationship with.
Ask, good questions:
- How can I help?
- What’s the biggest challenge in your business?
- What would be the impact if you could resolve that specific problem?
The biggest opportunity in networking is to develop relationships with those who have similar clients and who can offer you, multiple introductions over time. Be sure to invest in developing the relationship.
Agree a follow-up, telephone call, coffee and a 1-2-1, don’t try to set this up after you have left the event.
