Infrastructure Improvements around Newton Abbot
Devon County Council is embarking on a 5 year programme of works on the A380 centring around areas of pavement repair and reconstruction but also incorporating works to structures, RRS, drainage, signs and vegetation as required.
The works are split into 8 packages covering Ware Barton Northbound, Ware Barton Southbound, Kingsteignton Northbound, Kingsteignton Southbound, Wapperwell Cottages Northbound, Harcombe Plantation Southbound, Telegraph Hill Northbound and Telegraph Hill Southbound. The first package of works is Ware Barton Southbound which they intend to undertake this financial year with works programmed to commence in February 2018.
In order to inform our design, the council need to undertake walkover surveys of the works areas to define the extent of the works, undertake topographic survey work, check drainage and RRS and take some cores of the carriageway. They are proposing a series of lane closures during the day which will cover the Ware Barton Southbound, Kingsteignton Northbound and Wapperwell Cottages sections.
These works will be restricted to between 09.30 and 15.30, with the intention that they are undertaken 0n the 2nd, 3rd, 9th & 10th August. Following on from those walkover surveys there will be a proposed week of night time closures of sections of the A380 week commencing 2nd October between Splatford Split and Telegraph Hill, Harbombe plantation and between Ware Barton and the Penn Inn junction; these are intended to be split into 2 nights southbound, 2 nights northbound and 1 night for either depending on works progress.
The closures will combine maintenance work with further survey work and advanced works for the packages. The closures will take place in sections with diversions via the standard routes. If you have any queries or concerns please contact Devon County Council.
