Stay Motivated, Part 4
We all need that spark of inspiration to bring us back on task; sometimes it’s others that can help and sometimes we need to be the motivators. Hopefully you’ve stayed motivated to make it through to our final part of staying motivated.
Teamwork Makes the… You Know
How can you encourage teamwork? Here’s why it’s a priority: it was found in a 2014 survey that the main factor in employees going further in their work was their peers and the encouragement they get from them.
Recognition needs to be across the workforce for the whole team to stay motivated and focused on achieving success.
As a thank you, some employers will give yearly bonuses and as this is a great appreciation of your staff, it can sometimes not really provide the most effective motivation.
Regular rewards could lead to consistent motivation.
Change it Up
A change of scenery can really give you a boost to your motivation. Is your office or working space without any natural light? Go and have a brief walk outside and get a different perspective.
Instead of staring at the same wall, screen and desk get moving a little and see if a different view can boost your motivation.
Mindful of Mindfulness
Being mindful is a mental process of intentionally slowing down and taking notice of what is going on around you. The NHS website says: “It’s easy to stop noticing the world around us. It’s also easy to lose touch with the way our bodies are feeling and to end up living ‘in our heads’ – caught up in our thoughts without stopping to notice how those thoughts are driving our emotions and behaviour.”
More simply put: it’s about putting things in their proper perspectives. Stress can be the standard for a lot of us but when it comes to being mindful: it’s about refocussing and viewing what is really worth being concerned about; helping us be motivated.
It’s a given that not every job is going to be a day at Alton Towers, but if every day is a slog and no fun at all then motivation will disappear fast.
You don’t need to fill your office with activities and things found in the Google Offices, there’s something fun to be found everywhere. Don’t be afraid to let fun be part of the course: motivation can come in spades if people are having fun.
