Over the long Bank Holiday weekend, some town centre shops will be open on the Thursday and also on the Friday. Austins will be closed on the Friday. I am grateful to Two Sisters dance school and to close harmony singing group ‘Forte’ who will be putting on town centre performances on the Jubilee Saturday.
You will have seen that we have the patriotic bunting already up in town and the new flags, as shown below, will be in place soon. Please be aware that the positioning of these is in locations which already had old brackets in place, so this might seem rather random! We have done it this way as otherwise we would have needed to obtain planning permission for any new ones and time scales are short, but the planning process lengthy! Old brackets have been removed and new safety- compliant ones have replaced them. We will also have red, white and blue seasonal planting in the baskets in and around the town, so the town centre will be looking suitably patriotic
The focus for the Jubilee celebrations is very much around the community with the expectation that there will be street parties etc, but you can see from the poster below that the town council has quite a bit of activity planned!
